Birthday Card Made Easy

Celebrations!

Card kits really do make things easy. I made this card using the Pink & Main March Crafty Courtyard Kit, which is still available! This was such a quick card to put together. Everything came from the kit except for small things like glue, double-sided adhesive, the yellow paper I used as a matte, and the Sizzix Texture Boutique I used to emboss the white matte on the card.

I went full chipboard sticker this time (not pictured), using both the presents and the cake from the stickers. I did add some Art Glitter Glue, which I have decided is the best glue if for no other reason than you can buy the fine tip applicator and it never clogs and works like a charm. I didn’t think I was partial to one glue or another, but I’m having a hard time finding a flaw with Art Glitter Glue.

Poorly composed photo

Everything in the photo above was included in the kit and I used it all. For the paper, I chose a brightly colored sprinkles pattern on a white background. All of Pink & Main’s papers are good quality with a slightly glossy finish and, as I’ve mentioned previously, they coordinate with everything else in the kit.

The kit did come with Darice Celebrate embossing folder (currently out of stock) and I hadn’t used it yet, so I ran a piece of white card stock through my Sizzix Texture Boutique to emboss it. I cute the yellow matte to 4.25″ x 5.5″, the embossed matte to 4″ x 5.25″ and the sprinkles paper to 3.75″ x 5″. I then attached a strip of the heart ribbon with a piece of 1/4″ double-sided adhesive to the front of the card. The birthday cake chipboard sticker in the middle is popped up on some Scotch foam tape, although the Simon Says Stamp Big Mama roll is very good, too. The sentiment is from the stamp set and the banner die came from the die set in that kit. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp it.

What’s on the inside?

Finally, I *gasp* finished the inside. I’m getting more and more inspired to do things on the inside from Cassie Trask and Prairie Paper & Ink. Both Cassie and Amy always finish the insides and I’ve been too lazy to do it before, but I struck out and did it. I used Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide ink and another sentiment from the stamp set. I stamped the sentiment crooked and the exclamation point came out looking like a lower-case L. The crooked stamp I’m all right with, but I did take a black fine tip pen and dot the exclamation point.

Again, this was such a quick card to put together. I’ll be handing it over to my MIL this weekend and I hope she enjoys having it as much as I did making it!
