July Stash Bash: It’s still happening!

They’re cute!

I made the two cards above late the week before last. And then I sat on them and sat on them and tried to come up with ideas for the rest of the Cheeky Modern Pop paper I have and…I couldn’t. Let’s talk about how I made them.

I pulled in the Altanew Ombré Alphabet stamp set, the rub-ons and stickers, and some Nuvo Jewel Drops in Key Lime and Crystal Drops in Red Berry. Red Berry definitely is more of a dark pink, so it went really well with the paper I used. I had been trying to figure out how to use the star sunglasses and the mouth. The idea came to me through coincidence when I dumped out some of the rub-ons I had separated to get to other ones and they sort of fell into that position. A card idea was born!

I used a fairly large piece of the rainbow pattern paper I had sitting around. Ipulled the rainbow colored You Are Rad sticker from the sticker sheet and glue it down. I added the Crystal Drops, and the the card was finished.

For the unicorn card, I had originally planned on stamping out the U R A followed by a rub-on of the crystals you see on the patterned paper and then the unicorn. There is writing under the crystals that says Magical Babe. So the sentiment would have read U R A Magical Babe with a unicorn underneath. Not enough room! So, instead, I used the Magical Babe rub-on on the the patterned paper (the bolder one in the top third of the patterned paper), stamped out U R A, and then used the unicorn rub-on. So now it says U R A Unicorn with a little extra something on the pattern paper. The unicorn’s mane is green, so I added the Jewel Drops as accents and that card was done.

I kept looking at the two CMP cards thinking about what I could do next. I pulled out my supplies, played with them, put this next to that, rubbed that onto this and trimmed it out and…nothing was happening. So rather than force myself into it, I switched gears and started playing with…

Bright, bold, and way more fun!

…and that’s how I came up with the next three cards.

So much better

The first card I made was the Time to Relax card. I knew I wanted to use the margarita ephemera. The pattern paper has avocados, margaritas, watermelon, and other summer-themed images. It also has gold foil dots, which adds a little sparkle. The sentiment comes from a Simon Says Stamp set called Sea You Soon. This set seems to have been retired, but was included in the July 2017 card kit.

Discontinued, but still cute

I finished it off with more Red Berry Crystal Drops. The next card I made was the easiest to make. The hola design came straight from the pattern paper. I trimmed it out and then took gold sequins and adhered them to different spots on the sun rays and sun. I believe the sequins came from a past Scrapping for Less kit, but they are similar to these Darice gold sequins. I then used my Wink of Stella shimmer pen to add a little sparkle to the bird, sentiment, and little flowers.

The final card used pattern paper with flowers and birds and highlighted with gold foiled dots. I used a floral die cut. I struggled with the sentiment. I ended up stamping Hello Friend from the Concord & 9th Dahlia Turnabout Stamp and did some shading with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I used the same gold sequins to add a little bit of sparkle and that’s it! I’m not entirely sure I like the blockiness of the sentiment and may replace it with something a little fancier, but for now it is a complete card that would make a nice hello to a friend.

I will have one more week of July Stash Bash, and watch this space for cards from some of my Pink & Main card kits!
