A Father’s Day Card for Dad!

I mean…Duh.

I received Pink & Main’s May 2020 card kit and was intrigued. I’ve been getting the card kits since March of 2020 and had liked them, but this one spoke to me in a surprising way. It was specifically geared toward masculine style cards and featured a t-shirt stamp and die and some adorable sentiments. The papers were fun and the overall vibe reminded me of being a kid in the 70s and early 80s.

I need a pair of slip on Vans and a red plastic skateboard, stat!

Items in the kit include:

  • A unique stamp set.
  • Card stock in assorted coordinating colors.
  • An entire 6×6 paper pad in coordinating designs.
  • A pack of sequins.
  • 4 envelopes.
  • Enamel dots.
  • A stencil.
  • Dies.
  • Assorted other goodies that go with the kit theme.

As soon as I saw the kit, I knew I was going to make my dad’s Father’s Day card with it. I had seen Michelle from Pink & Main use the stencil on one of her cards and loved the way it looked, so I wanted to replicate that look on my own card. Instead of using the white card stock, I went with the dark brown card stock from the kit and stenciled it with Distress Oxide Fired Brick ink. I concentrated the color in the center and faded it out from there. I used my Vivace Beauty Brushes and Wendy Vecchi Make It Art Stay-tion to make sure it stay put and that I was getting enough ink on the paper.

It was a little difficult to tell if it was dark enough due to the color of the ink on the paper, but I was pleased with the result. Next, I stamped the t-shirt on some patterned paper. I had selected the sentiment “It’s Your Day You Deserve The Royal Treatment” and I stamped it onto the patterned paper after I stamped the shirt. I cut out the t-shirt and sentiment, popped the shirt up on some low-profile foam tape and adhered it to my stenciled background.

To finish up, I adhered the card panel to the card base in the lower right corner. I liked the off-center look of it with the white border along the top and left. I then used Lawn Fawn’s Happy, Happy, Happy stamp set to stamp the inside sentiment. This might be one my of most used stamp sets. I stamped the t-shirt outline in Distress Oxide Broken China on the envelope, put a few enamel dots on the outside, and it was complete!

This card kit is a lot of fun. Pink & Main has really wonderful kits with amazing products. The kits are filled to bursting with stash-builders and they all come in a really handy vinyl zip bag. I highly recommend getting one! The June 2020 kit is available as part of their subscription plan, but it is also available without a subscription, although it might sell out before you get one! (I recommend the subscription.)

Thank you for joining me on my card making adventure! See you for June Stash Bash Week 3!
