Sunday Sketch Day 1

Tea Card 6

After making a coffee themed card, I decided to be fair to the tea drinkers in the world and make a tea themed card. All of the supplies came from the February 2017 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit Coffee, Tea and Cocoa. To see everything that came in that kit, please see this YouTube video. The kit is long sold out, but most if not all the components are still available at the Simon Says Stamp website.

In addition I wanted to try something new. On Sundays I’m going to post cards based on sketches I find on Pinterest and other locations. Let’s get started!

What I Did

Tea Card 3

For reference, here’s the sketch.

This was a quick card to put together and didn’t require a lot of effort. I picked out the papers I wanted to use based on design and colors. I wanted to make sure the patterns didn’t battle each other, so I used a the larger doughnut pattern for the vertical stripe and the busier “confetti” pattern for the banner. I didn’t die cut the banner, but fishtailed it with scissors. (To fishtail a banner, make a small cut at the end as deep as you’d like the fishtail to go, and then cut from the corners until they meet at the first cut.)

The circle piece was a bit too plain for me, so I decided to back it with a scalloped circle cut from a tone on tone dark pink patterned paper.

Tea Card 4

As you can see, I wasn’t sure what paper I wanted to use for the circle. The stacked tea cup patterned paper is so cute, but I knew the Sprinkles would get lost on it. Luckily the flip side was the pink polka dot and it was perfect for the layout. I used the two tea cups, the tea bags, and two sugar cubes.

The banner piece started out much wider than I wanted, so I did trim off about a quarter of an inch before I fishtailed the ends. Finally I stamped the sentiment in dark brown ink (because, you know, tea) and that was it.

I hope you enjoy this series as I continue with it!

Thank you!
